Like Jay, mine sat around for a while - five years in my case.  But it 

never sat outside and never in the sun.  I peeled back the protective 

material with no problem after that time.  Try peeling it back at a 

corner.  If it won't come, try spraying a little Lemon Pledge on the 

edge and see if that helps.  The Pledge won't hurt the canopy.
