I received my gauge today (fast service) from Boatersworld. After reading through the instructions I have a questionfrom those of you using this fuel flow gauge. The instructions say to mount the sender in a vertical position. The most logical position for my engine installation would be right after the gascolater which is on the bottom right hand corner of the firewall. From that point the gas line goes vertical and then across the engine to the fuel pump(912UL) I could cut the line and install the sender above the gascolater however, the instructions also say to not install it where heat or vibration is a problem. There is heat and vibration in the engine compartment certainly, but what is too much heat/vibration. It is reasonably far from the muffler. Has anyone installed the sender in this area? I don't have room under my header tank for the installation (as one member has done) unless I completely modify the existing plumbing which would be a fair amount of work. The only other way I could install it is to have it horizontal in the cabin by the floor.
Thanks

horizontal on the cabin floor will be fine as long as it is not in a place you will be kicking it all the time.

Dick,
I have mine installed vertically, just upstream of the fuel pump, well away from exhaust. No problems with heat or vibration in 2 years of flying. But then, I've never had an engine fire either.
