Hi,
These are like the D-Sub connectors I used, which have a threaded portion that the screw of the mating connector threads into, holding them tightly together:

The threaded barrel is .250" long and is on the mating side of the connector. You need a threaded barrel on either the male or the female half of the connector, but not both.
