Only problem is they don't recommend sand blasting spark plugs
anymore...at least for aircraft...at least I THINK I read that
someplace. Can someone verify?

Absolutely true. A small amount of erosion on the porcelain electrode support will
change its heat range and electrical properties. Spark plugs are designed to work with
the new electronic ignition systems and hence last probably 5 but closer to 10 times
as long as they did with older coil systems. My F-150 with 97,550 miles has the
original plugs and I just looked at two and there is no reason to change them out. Gap
was still 0.018 which is just fine.
I used to change plugs out in the 60's every 15,000 miles or less. Then cleaning them
made sense. No longer. Not with NGK plugs at NAPA for under $2.
