Hey World Record Earl,
Fly on up to SYI and take your camera. Then send me a travel log with photos for the newsletter. It is about time you wrote something else for the newsletter. TIA

Buz,

It was just a wild hair thought. It turns out that some of my friends are having an impromptu fly-in today at WDR. This will be my last flight for a while. I'm having a hip replacement operation Tuesday, and won't be able to get in the Lightning for about two months. Something else for you young folks to look forward to as you get older! At least when I can fly it will be Spring and (hopefully) decent flying weather.

Wx CAVU, surface winds calm, 37F but rising. Couldn't ask for a better winter flying day except that I'd have a 20K headwind to SYI.

impromptu fly-in today

Hi World Record Earl,
I understand. Two thoughts - first, today, take your camera and turn the impromptu fly-in into a "travel log" for our newsletter. Second, take your camera with you when you go in for the hip replacement and take a photo of yourself and the prettiest nurse you can find - you (and the nurse) might even be the next newsletter centerfold. I look forward to seeing you at SNF.
Blue Skies,
Buz

Earl,

Hope your hip replacement surgery goes extremely well and that you "bounce" back very soon.

Doubt I can get a pix during the operation, but Maybe there will be a pretty nurse. SNF will be a priority this year, depending on how well the hip goes.

Yesterday (Sat 1/30) was a very nice winter flying day and we had a great turnout at the Winder, GA (WDR) airport. The Spitfire Grill there was overflowing. This has become THE $100 hamburger place for north Georgia. Highly recommend if you are passing through the area.

Nice! The second one reminds me of that song “Lean on Me”…

Good looking lightning, but I think we will have to send you some lemons to get the smile off your face.

Cheers Helmut.
