Wow guys, I just can't believe this happened.  I watched this guy fly for 3 days out at Wayne Handley's field when I went out there for spin training.  That guy was more highly trained than half of us put together.  He had been personally mentored and trained by the best in the field of aerobatics.  This should be a huge wake up call to all of us to make sure we keep our stuff straight.  When was the last time you practiced spins?  Maybe you should brush off the dust.

I just can't believe Nick is gone, wow.  Helluva nice guy.  This sux.

Here is part of the ntsb initial report:

"...the inspector reported that the pilot was landing toward the northwest at Metz Field, after practicing aerobatic maneuvers. The runway is partially dirt and asphalt, oriented northwest/southeast. Witnesses told the inspector that the airplane veered to the right and nosed down, colliding with the ground about 100 feet to the right, and about 850 feet past the approach end of the runway. The airplane bounced and struck the ground a second time, coming to rest within about 50 feet of the initial impact point, and about 45 degrees to the right of the runway heading."
