Hi Guys,
Just received the latest issue of "Flight Levels" and, as usual, the first item I looked for was the "Twin Commander History" piece.
Oh dear - more errors.
Firstly, the GO-480-B engines were not 280hp, but were rated at 270hp for 5 minutes on take-off and 260hp maximum continuous.
Secondly, it's a pity they evidently couldn't find a photo of a Model 560 - I've got hundreds to choose from!
The photo used is of a 560A, N2754B s/n 254, which is carrying the titles of The Long-Bell Lumber Company, of Kansas City, Missouri.
Best Regards,

Barry, have you ever heard of a model 580 Commander? I think it was to be a 560F with bigger engines.

Hi Bill,
I have a Fact File covering the "Unbuilt Model Variants and Projects".
I'm certain it doesn't cover every single idea that the Factory had, but it does list a Model 580L.
This was covered by Report No. AP10-103, "Preliminary Aerodynamic Performance", dated August 23rd 1960.
Doesn't seem to be based on the 560F though, as MTOW was only 5,500lb and engines were Lycoming IO-540 series.
Best Regards,
Barry
