This is one question I asked Mark Townsend about the differences. He said that on take off (gross) with the 80HP, you would count 10 seconds, whereas with the 100 HP, you count 6 seconds.

Hi guys,

I wanted to know if any of you have experience operating a 701 with an 80hp
912UL on floats? I know more power of the 912ULS would be ideal, but how does
the 80hp 912UL perform? How does it fly at gross on floats?

Also, are the Zenith numbers for the 80hp accurate. If not, which ones would
you call into question?

Thanks,

Jon McDonald

Thanks for the info. Smile I ask because there seem to be more used 80hp Rotaxes on the market than 100hp. If a used 100hp is only $1K-$2K more, I'll probably go for the 100hp, but if I can't find a used 100hp or they are WAY higher than the used 80hp I'll go that route.

Thanks again,

Jon McDonald

Jon

also consider bolt on horse power for S Hand 912 80 hp
Super Extra pistons ring pin & clips from
http://www.experimentalfuelinjection.com/wst_page9.php 95 HP same weight
or 912 extra pistons pin & Clips claim 95HP (not as good as Super Extra)
