Streetprice is 100$ for used one. I think my price for a new one is fair

LOL C $120 USD? For an XA-D211? You've got to be kidding. While I'm sure they are scarce these days I'm sure C90s are as well. If a D211 is worth that kind of money a C90 must be worth like $3000 C lol.
I don't need one (glad I don't) but if I did I would probably just make my own off the S/PDIF signal from the board and an optical emitter--would probably cost like $20 tops...

Actually it is a fair price. I sold one on ebay a few months ago for $128.50. They are not easy to find, and most people wouldn't want to mess around building their own.

i bought mine from sony for 24.91 shipped (less than 5 years ago). also from what I searched that is not the only adapter that does that (unless digital coax is dependant from unit to unit)

How would you go about doing that? My 211 is still NIB, but if something ever went bad, I'd like to know how to build what you mention.
