I have ordered the Jabiru 3300 for my Europa and talked with Catto about a fixed three bladed prop. The cost is about 1600-2000 USD. I figure I'd get about 130 kts with this combination.

I was wondering if any of you that have this engine with a constant speed prop would share your preformance information. Mainly, is the cost of a constant speed worth the extra bucks.

Rick,
I don't think you will get any extra speed out of a constant speed, just quicker take offs, easier landings and perhaps better economy.
Having had the pleasure of constant speed, but the subsequent aggravation from lack of reliability, I am now quite happy with a fixed pitch.
Flying out of paved runways, the performance is fine, even at MGW, which with my 220 lb co-pilot is usually the case.
For me the cost of the constant speed and the extra weight on the nose were just not worth it.
I'm sure those who are happy with their C/S props will beg to differ.
