I know this has been brought up before, but I can not find it in my papers. What is the Yamaha part number for the snowmobile boots that are used to seal the steering rods through the firewall? Thank you very much. If anyone has an alternative, please let me know.

Sam,
There's an easier way if you like working aluminum. I made these for my
601HDS, but the process would be the same.

They work fine and there's no leakage.

Hey Larry! Does that just slide up and down? That looks like an ingenious
way of sealing! I just remembered that mine are still wide open! Was
thinking I had to seal them off come spring! Thanks! Bob

Hi Bob,
Yes, the piece is thinner than the sandwich materials and it has a
grommet that fits the rod within the hole and the piece is captured so
it can go up and down
as well as a little sideways for the radial action of the strut. Two
bolts and it's secure, one thru the bottom and one thru the top.

I just picked up a set on Ebay for $25.00 shipped and I think there were a couple more pair still showing last week.

Sorry for the slow reply. Just put in steering boots under the main page and you will get all kinds of different ones. Looks like several of them would work.
