Don't laugh...but for moving by hand, I went to the Aviation Dept of Home Depot and got some metal pipe.... about a 12" section to go through the nosewheel (retaining pin optional), a 90, then about 6 feet of pipe, a tee, and two sections for the handle. Painted to match the airplane of course... Worked great...
For moving with a tug, I got some square tubing, and had one welded up..about 100 bucks and a bunch cheaper than going out and buying one from Spruce that doesn't work well... I still have them both if you want pictures for ideas, I'd be happy to share...

Jeff - knowing your attention to detail & authenticity, were you able to find suitable metric threaded pipe for this unique item, or did you simply settle for standard U.S. threads?
