I recently purchased a 601xl that was well built ,but the canopy does not fit well. I measured the rear canopy bow and it was more than 1078mm from side to side. that makes the latches miss. what is the best way to bend the bow with out breaking the canopy?. I thought about using a strap around the bow and ratchet it in or would it be better to try to remove the bow and then bend it. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Paul,
I would be concerned about stressing the bubble and cracking it. Remember, you will have to pull it in past the desired spot to put any more bend in the hoop.
It sounds to me that this airplane is already built and the canopy does close, just not very well. If that is the case and you are only talking a little bit to get the latches lining up better, you might want to consider the bar shown in the attached picture. Maybe it will help. I saw it at Oshkosh in 2007. As you can see, this builder also incorporated a rope to help pull the canopy down as well as too keep it from opening too far on a windy day.
Good luck,

You might consider that bar, plus guide clips as shown on the attached photo.

Sorry, I attached the drawing for my airplane. Yours might be different. See attached photo.
