FYI there is a forum just started up at www.rotaxaircraft.com

It is not just for Rotax powered planes and they do have a Kitfox forum along with a forum for floatplanes. There are also forums for air-cooled two strokes and Liquid cooled two-strokes as well as the four-stroke forum.

I’m not suggesting everyone jump ship here. Far from that. Just you may want to check out the other forum from time to time.

Dave:

I had a look at the new site and I think there are a lot of things being
done right. First of all the name is easy to remember. Second; they do
have all the manuals for the Rotax engines in a nice easy to follow tables
that include the dates of updates. No following a line of links only to
find yourself back where you started. Hey you can look up data without
leaving the site or the forum. This is obviously a growing concern and I
expect to see prop manuals, electrical fittings etc to eventually appear.

Although the name says Rotax aircraft I see there are planes there with many
other power plants... So no one is left out..

As I said before Love 'em or not the name/URL "rotaxaircraft" is easy to
remember.

As you know I love my little 'Fox but I'm also interested in fling wings (
Gyros and Copters) I see they have a new forum for those aircraft as well.
That is one area I hope takes off as well as weight shift classification.
Too bad I can't afford more toys Sad I think an auto gyro is made for
photography!

I have started building a mold around my engine to extend the Townsend ring
which is way too short to cover my new installation. I'm building up the
form with papier mache and will finish it off with a thin coat of
Poly-Filler which I can wax well and glass the extention right on to the
existing cowl pieces. I'm thinking about glassing the upper and lower
halves together as I can access the engine from the rear cowl easily and
doing that will make installing some air baffles a little easier. The down
side is any time I want to remove it the prop will have to come off first.

What's you take on this idea?

Noel
