Hello!

I'm considering powering my bird with a Corvair engine. I have limited experience rebuilding engines (replaced a Subie head gasket once) and would have an experienced Corvair builder do this for me. I would not provide the cadaver or any organs.

To save money, I would be comfortable in assembling some of the engine myself.

Look forward to hearing your experiences, suggestions, and references.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan,

Greetings and welcome to the Corvair Community!
I am certain you will be very happy with your choice of the Corvair as your power plant.
I would be more than happy to build your engine for you if that is what you are looking for.
Or if you prefer to assemble it your self I would be happy to put a kit engine together for you.
I have nearly 30 Core engines here at my shop that I use as parts donors.
I have my own private label of custom forged pistons made right here in the USA.
I am also having new 4340 crankshafts manufactured as well as new 4340 Connecting rods.
Our Aluminum / Nikasil Cylinders are still in the research & development stage but they have great promise to lighten the engine by 18 pounds!

We also have other products and services available to help you realize your aviation dreams.

If you are interested or even just curious, please see my website.
www.magnificentmachine.com

You will always have our support.
Best Wishes,

Thanks Gig, Bob, and Brady Smile

I've been briefly to Brady's site and more extensively at WW's. I'll be looking to get some of his manuals/dvd's soon. Subscribed yesterday to corvaircraft. Got the confirm email from them yesterday. Setup a username and PW, but can't get in. Maybe I have to wait to be approved. Also signed up for the Yahoo group, but am also waiting for them.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan,

Depending on where you live, you might want to consider attending Corvair College 14 in Lowell, MA. William Wynne will be there along with several Corvair enthusiasts. It is a good way to learn about the Corvair. For more info visit www.aerovair.com and follow the links to Corvair College 14.

Bellingham, MA is about 50 miles from Lowell. I live in Bellingham, WA, about 50,000 miles from Lowell. Oh, well...

It would be nice to go to one of those things, though.

Well, Brady is only about 90 miles away in Poulsbo, WA (although Seattle is
in the way). He has had his Corvair running. I don't know if it is on his
test stand or his plane right now.

Yes, well...I did checkout the flight schedule. $300 RT and think that includes a tour of the Kennedy's. The more I look into resurrecting one myself (an engine, that is), the less intimidating it seems and the more I feel like going for it. Is this 3 full days, Fri-Sun?
