As some of you may know, I had some down time with N730AL. I decided to take advantage this to do a little tweaking to my interior. I never did like what the previous guy had done for me and decided to redo it. I really did like the new panel setup, but my 10”+ EFIS would not fit, so I had some conversation with MGL and arranged to swap mine out for the 8.5” version. I’m saving space for some things over the EFIS. Also, on the right side I will be fitting a backup GPS with XM weather. I know what I want, but can only afford the gizmo mount for now. It also makes for a nice hole to get to the power panel without removing the panel.
I am almost done in refitting things. All that is left is to mount the fuel valve, pitot/static and master switch on the center console and fit it in with the new interior. I must say the Brandon from Absolute Upholstery does some of the best work that I have seen to date. He’s a car guy, so he is learning the Airplane business, but let me tell you. Growing up like I did in the home of a seamstress, I know good sewing when I see it, and this guy is terrific. Green Landings is very lucky to have him doing work for them!
I thought I would include a few pics of the almost done interior…
Jim!

BTW: I did not make it clear that we took out the original panel that was in my plane and replaced it with the new style. Actually a very easy retrofit. You still have to remember where you wired things when you put them back.
Now where did I put that labeler...?

Very clever to be able to retro fit a new blank panel, very clever
indeed. Bob Haas.

It actually wasn't that hard. Green Landings tore out the original and
installed the new panel box. My first panel was the original larger flat
version with the carbon fiber "hoop". I knew it was going to fit fine
because when building my Lightning, we test fit one from one a newer kit,
and it worked. The problem I had was that the smaller MLG was not released
at that time and I did not want to use their smallest version.
So, I just waited for the right moment! The Medium sized MGL Voyager fits
great. I probably could have raised it a little higher, but at the time I
thought I was going to save some space for other "stuff".

Hi Jim,
Feeling the pinch at the grocery store? Make dinner for $10 or less.

Hi Jim,
Looks really nice, Jim, I like it. Did you have a leather or vinyl interior before? Do you like the cloth better? Does it feel any cooler in the summer? Just wondering what you experience has been if you had leather or vinyl before.
Blue Skies,
Buz

Thanks Buz:
I had a imitation leather interior before. The material was nice, but it did get a bit stick when it got hot out. We’ll have to wait till warmer weather to see how it feels, but I imagine that it will be cooler than the leather/vinyl stuff. My experience with Leather, (real) is that it is cooler than vinyl. I think it breathes better…
