Hey Paul - Rams site is http://www.ramengines.com/. There are quite a few good pics
on the Patriot site showing engine mount/exhaust system mockups plus several showing
the engine on a digital scale. Showing 140 lbs minus redrive C exhaust and oil/water
rads C 186 with redrive. http://www.eaglesportplane.com/constructiongallery.asp

Hi Glen
I Googled for the RAM Engine's WEB site but didn't get a hit. Do you happen to have a URL ? I was curious how much it weighed.

Hey Paul - the RAM install with my fixed pitch Catto prop seems to weigh in about the same as a lot of 914's with C/S prop.
I weigh in at 930 lbs but I've got a number of weight saving projects to do. I'm using a steel flywheel when I could go
to Alu C my exhaust system is made from .049 wall 304 SS when it could have been .035 C my motor mount could support
an Allison T56 according to some people C valve covers are heavy steel could easily be fiberglass C etc C etc.
Hoping to upgrade to a roller cam/rocker setup and MPFI at some point.
Glenn

Hi Glenn C
I found the all up weight as 176 pounds wet. This is getting close to the 912S at 140 pounds wet at 160 for the 914.
The ram engine numbers weight are impressive. Although there are many other parameters to be considered C at least this is starting to take the weight argument off the table.
Paul
do not archive.
