Guys, is it my imagination or is there very little in the way of instructions on how to install the top window in the 701 plans? I've been looking through the plans and it says almost nothing.

Specifically, I am trying to figure out the following:

1. Exactly where the back edge of the window should lie. does it just get riveted to the 20mm lip that extends forward of the rear spar carry through "C" channel or is it suppoed to be tied into the rear spar "C"?

2. Is the top window just riveted directly to the cabin frame or are there supposed to be doubler strips under the heads of the rivets?

3. Is the top window attached with rivets or screws similar to the windshield?

Thanks for you help

I am under the impression that the plexiglass is riveted on to  the diagonal tube and the main expanse of the the side tubes.

My question is about riveting the plexiglass to the V-Frame where the side tube slides into the V-Frame. What have others done? That is structural so I do not want to rivet the plexiglass to it. Have others drilled larger holes in the plexiglass, riveted the frame and then installed the plexiglass over top?

Thanks,

Doug,
There's not a lot of info available on the top window installation.

I'm attaching a picture (I hope) of how the top window sits on top of the cabin frame underneath the windshield lip. We used a seam of acrylic (or some such) to seal the area. No drilling in the top cabin frame.

Hope this helps
