I don't have sense either, I guess. I am not glued to a computer checking email every 5 minutes, so I prefer the digest version, as it allows me to keep my mail box uncluttered. I browse a quick list with the subjects, and scroll to the ones that are of interest to me.

The recent digest I received was the first in a long time that was formatted for easier reading. Every time a saw --Message 1--- or 2, it really was the current message from the digest, not one that had been attached multiple times to replys. I hope the format stays this way. Keep up the good work.

I've never used the Digest.  On any site.  I prefer to view one at a time and reply if necessary to the individual.  To be honest, I've never seen the Digest version.  I wouldn't know how it's formatted.

# maybe if you had the sense to subscribe to the posts instead of
# the digest you wouldn't get all of the responses

The digest is a sensible choice for many people. I get a handful
of mail lists that way, and all of the others are readable.
Today's digest is the best I've seen for a long time, for
readability.

# To be honest, I've n ever seen the Digest version. =C2-I
# wouldn't know how it's formatted.

Here's how today's digest looks:

http://newlangsyne.com/etc/tg1.gif

Gary's posts are hard to read because he probably uses "quoted
printable" MIME encoding, which doesn't show on the online
version of the list.

Most of this week's posts have been almost impossible to read.
Here's a sample from earlier in the week.

http://newlangsyne.com/etc/tg2.gif

When that's how my information is served up, I don't even try to
decode it.

I do appreciate that, having been Gang-banned (not my phrase, but I like it).

It's an option on whatever program you use to send email. I suppose there's
an advantage but I don't know what it is.

This will make some folks nauseous, but I use Outlook Express. It's simiple
and it works. "Quoted printable" is their default for plain text. To turn
it off, I did this:

Menu: Tools >> Options
"Send" tab
then, ....

There are buttons for HTML Settings and Plain Text Settings in the lower half
of the dialog. On each of them I selected NONE in the box for "Encode text
using..."

Other email programs have similar setups.
