Group,

The Lightning Sport LS-1 Flew for the first time on Saturday under a R&D certificate. Aircraft performed as expected, hands off, with minor tuning adjustment to the carby. Initial stall test show a clean stall of 36knts (at)1220 pounds, so under 45knts should no be a problem with another 100lbs on board. Will keep ya’ll updated and should see the FAA on Wednesday for final S-LSA approval.

Well done guys. This begs the question, what does S-LSA get with regards
to European certification?
It would be great to see some Lightings flying over this side of the
pond. With the dollar-Euro rate they would be very competitive....
Best Regards, Clive

Nick C   Through flight testing I predict that you should see a clean stall speed at 1320 lbs. of about 37.5 knots.  Wink  With Flaps 30 you probably saw about 10 or closer to 15 knots less?  We never flight tested with flaps 40 during my flights C but it is my belief that 40 would be mostly drag and not so much lift at that point.  Brian W.
