Am looking for suggestions on replacement screws C but I'm also curious about metalurgy...
I'm not too pleased with the original Communist steel screws. By these I mean the screws that hold down fairings C not "structural" screws -- I would always go with OEM stuff in those cases.
In replacement screws C I can go with steel screws C steel screws that have been passivated (black oxide or "hot" bluing they do with guns) C stainless screws C or passivated stainless screws.
Anybody have any opinions on the merits of one of these options over the others?
Jon

Hi Jon,
I live near the coast of Florida and I use stainless screws for the fairings of my CJ.
I had a restored Vette that had black oxide on the seat rails and they eventually began to rust.
Here in Fl. with all the salt air I think rocks will corrode over time.

Jon,
I’m using stainless steel truss head metric screws to replace the Russian ones. They come from McMaster Carr. You can also get them from Maryland Metric Screw. I have not ordered from them but Dennis has.
