I contacted the EAA this morning to see what they knew about the issue. The person I talked with had not heard of any decision to suspend granting AW certificates for Experimental 601XLs.
He agreed that if such were happening it would be a precedent setting move on the FAA's part and that the EAA would be quite concerned with such an action. He or someone in EAA Government relations office will make calls today to the FAA and follow up and see what they can find out. I told him I'd give him a call Tuesday morning for an update.
I will, of course, let the forum know any info I receive.
P.S. I don't usually post to both of the Zenith lists on the same topic but this one is important.

Good job.
For all newbies to homebuilding and the EAA, this should be a lesson in what experimental building means, you can do all the airchair engineering, real engineering, chewing the fat with others on a subject etc..., but YOU DON"T GO AND CONTACT THE NTSB or FAA with your insecurities. Whoever the hell did that deserves a slap upside the head.
