FWIW,
While at Sun n Fun, I talked to the Stewart Systems guys.
They mentioned that someone had tried to spray their primer on the frame after sandblasting and had problems. The real problem was that they thined it too much so it would spray with an airbrush. Too much thinning made it vulnerable to solvents.
They said there was no way SS primer would work through an airbrush.
I seem to remember a thread of someone haveing problems with SS primer. I also remember Earl Luce liking the airbrush for solvent based epoxy primer. SS recomends using a real spray gun for the primer.
I am planning to use it on a Cub fuselage one of these days.

Hi Doug,
I was the one who had a problem.... Not with primer...
It was something called EKOpoxy....
First of all.... when I got the shippment... the "B" couldn't take the freezing temp
and it was hard as a rock.... they shipped me out another one... the temps were a
little warmer...
The airbrush didn't need the stuff thinned anymore than a regular spray gun...
I had three coats on small wing parts.... it wasn't the frame....
After a week.... I "nicked" one piece that was painted... I figured I'd feather it
...but first , I tried wiping some Lacquer thinner on it....
I didn't expect the stuff to hold up to MEK.... But it should hold up to lacquer thinner.
It didn't..... I might still use the Stewart System ..... But I bought regular epoxy for
a strong base.... ( this stuff holds up to MEK )
I'll also add... they said , that's NOT their product.... they get it from someone else...
Now , I can make a choice later... Stits or Stewart
Gotta Fly...
Mike & "Jaz" in MN
PS I sent the stuff over to Dan Michaels.... If his back ever starts feeling better
maybe he can try the stuff....
