On re-filling my Yak 52’s air this weekend – the check valve that is suppose to keep the air from blowing out the external filler value is stuck or defective. Air blows out the filler valve – where is this check valve? I tried to track it down on the air system schematic but was unsuccessful. The emergency side of things is fine and holds pressure, just the main air.

Thanks in advance,

Deon.

This check valve is on the firewall. Locate the pop-off valve. On the left and right side of the Cross or T are two check valves. The one on the left, closest to the oil tank is the check valve that you're looking for.

It depends on what system you have... This diagram depicts the system
I have in my Yak...
http://www.yakuk.com/YAK-52_Air_Schematic.pdf

Mine has a check valve in the back on the left side behind the pax
seat near the fill port (in red on the diagram)... If this one is
leaking your E system will not stay charged... This was the problem I
had...

On the diagram you will see another check valve, lower left, above the
engine... That is the main check valve (you should be able to find it
on the firewall near the pop-off valve, or trace it from the pop-off
valve (mine is near the upper left engine mount) ... If this one is
leaking your main air will not stay charged...

Again, this is the air system on mine.....my buddy's yak's system is
different...

Hope this helps...
