Think I'm leaning towards the Horizons tach unit. Any suggestions as to what to do with the hole in the accessory case where the old tach gen was? I'm thinking of just removing the guts of the old casing and putting just the case on. Thoughts?

Just be very careful if you pull anything else out other than the Tach
Gen itself. Inside that hole where the Tach Gen goes is the gearing
that also drives the air-start distributor. Disturb that, and you will
regret it for a long long time.

P.s. The Horizons Tach is a great device. But .... It hooks to the P
leads of the MAG(s) for operation. The MAG P leads are a very strong
source of EMI to ANY radio. Be very careful of exposed wires, use high
quality shielded wiring, bond all shields to ground properly, and keep
any additional P lead wiring just as short as can be. Just my 2 cents.
Your mileage may vary.
