I have a 2200A and in the latest install manual it says to fabricate some cooling tubes for the ignition coils, from the ram air ducts. The ducts already have holes fairly well aligned with the coils, so do I need to add these tubes? My engine isn't running yet, so I'd appreciate some real life experience.

I installed the 2200 Jab engine and I did not install the cooling tubes and it has over 50 hours on it with no problems it has been run in real hot weather also.

I have about 60 hours on my 3300A without the air tubes and I haven't had any issues (yet) and the manual has the same suggestion.
When I asked the local Jabiru distributor, his answer was that "it depends" and if I remember correctly they might have had more problems with the older version of the coils then the newer ones. Ultimately, just like most everything else, the coils will break down quicker if they are exposed to high heat and having the blast of air should help increase their useful life. However, it might also be overkill if you have enough air movement inside the cowl already or don't live in a hot environment. I personally think it is a bit of overkill - especially for a part that has a back-up in place but that is just my opinion that will probably change the first time one fails 
Two things I would highly suggest:
My baffling had two crankcase air holes to help keep the air from stagnating on top of the crankcase. Make sure you don't close those up. It is important to get some air movement on top of the crank case.
Make sure you place a heavy duty or welding gage wire between one of the starter bolts and the engine ground. At least on the 3300 series, the ground connection between the starter and the engine isn't the best and this jumper cable makes a huge difference in the ability to crank over your engine. I believe there is even a bulletin on this now (fyi - assuming same applies to 2200 as it does for the 3300). I chased a starting problem for about a month until doing this - every since, no problems at all.
