My Com2 Garmin SL40 which is connected through a Garmin 340 audio panel
produces only a fraction of the volume, that the Com1 SL 30 does. I've
been through the manuals looking for a clue as to where to begin. The
audio panel states that the volume is controlled by the volume control
on the radios. The Comm2 Vol is at max level. Anybody got suggestions on
where to look?

THANKS

Deems Davis

is your volume level set at a fixed value instead of the variable setting? turn of the radio and press and hold the mem button(i think) and turn it on and then change the values to variable

Deems I have a diferent intercom but had a similar problem. I had to put a
1/4 watt 300 ohm resistor from the audio output from SL40 to input from
intercom.

Chris' problem/solution is characteristic of a very inexpensive intercom, where all radio inputs are connected together instead of a proper mixing circuit. Surely not the problem with the garmin audio panel.

Deems, if you have a pin extractor, try swapping the SL 30 to com2 input, and the SL40 to com1 input, on the audio panel. If the problem stays with the SL40, then the problem is there. If the problem switches to the SL30, then the problem is in the audio panel. That will give you a starting point.

But check the easy things first, like the setup menus.

Your probably right Bob. Hopefully with the US Dollar continualy dropping I
will be able to upgrade to a better panel shortly.

Fixed /Variable is not a configuration setting available on the SL40,
only on the SL30.
