Good experiences using the IFA - UL on a 582 B box really helped shorten
the take off run on floats.

I bought a C box with the slip clutch recently, just realized the gear
ratio is 3.47 would this ratio be an issue for a 582 with 66 inch three
blade IVO ground adjustable prop. Thanks Mark

I think with that reduction you will want a bigger prop. With slow turning
props bigger is generally better. You can use one of the blade tip speed
calculators to make sure the tips won't go supersonic on you at max rpm..

your performance will suffer greatly with the 3.47. I have been running 2.62:1 with IVO IFA 72" I went to the 3:1 at the suggestion of a guy who stated the performance was much better.. I have tried 3 different props and found that I lost performance all the way around. Longer TO run, 5 mph less cruise, and about 300 FPM less on climb. Oh as an added bonus, the fuel burn went up a touch over 1 gph to cruise at the same speed. I am switching back to the 2.62:1 next time home.

66" will be good for 2,62:1
71" ---------------- 3,00:1
77" ---------------- 3,47:1

This with a Warp 3 blade or other normal 2 blade,
Problem with the high ratio is that angle become very large and a big part
of prop will be stalled at take off/climb

I've got a set of 2.62 gears in very good condition that I might sell for the right price.  Shoot my a private email if you are interested.  Take care C  Jim Chuk

Thanks to all for the C box gear ratio information, appears I need to
re-gear or get a bigger prop. Is a 77" prop a viable option for a K-F 2?
Would I need to consider a 2 blade v/s 3 if I increase the prop size?
The main reason I bought the C box was to get the slip clutch addition,
I assume a larger prop would not be a problem with the slip clutch.
Thanks Mark
