|

Hi guys,
I'm ready to beat my plane to pieces with a hammer. As some of you may know Im working on fitting the 650 canopy to my HD. The 650 canopy is a little tricky when it comes to making the two hoops exactly the same size and curvature. One was slightly off so I decided to take it off and try to bend it to shape. Long story short: when bending any of the 3/4" tube it is pretty forgiving UNTIL your drill a hole in it somewhere. Once you have drilled holes in the tube, you risk cracking the tubes in half as I have done twice now! Please note that the problems I am having are not related to the special issues I have had with retrofitting the 650 canopy to the HD. This is useful advice for anyone who is thinking about making adjustments to their canopy frames. The cracking is sudden, and gives little warning. I usually have a pretty good feel for these sorts of things but I ripped both of these puppies apart in no time!
