Hi there...

 Anyone out there got a good method for the initial set up of the brakes, in particular the brake differential valve and cables??

 When I try to setbrake lever cable tensions to a nice 'feel' on the brake handle all I succeed in doing is causing the valve to bleed air away.

 The book does not seem to have a procedure for adjusting the brakes.

Jay,

 Have you rebuilt or replaced the brake differential valve  recently?  With the pivot arm in the "neutral" position (both pistons with  no pressure on them), you should not have any leakage from the  brake differential valve.   What about the brake reducing  valve?   It's also known to cause leaks which sound like they are  coming from under the floor in the rear cockpit (assuming it's a Yak 52).   Both of these units can easily and inexpensively be overhauled with new seals,  crush washers, rubbers, pistons and springs.

Opps!  I didn't read the subject "CJ brake differential  valve.  But it basically works the same way as the Yak 52.  Just a  heck of a lot easier to get to than a 52.  The components are  interchangeable between aircraft.  Sorry about that.

Jay, Check to see if you have the return spring on the arm where it contacts the QS1, sounds like it may be missing.
