Jim,
We looked for you yesterday; sorry you didn't make it. Your plane is very nice! We had a good show of planes and people on Saturday with perfect weather; hope today brings more of the same.

Linda

Thanks Linda, I had really hoped to come, but it is a long drive and I needed to take care of my granddaughter today. The guy that was going to fly down for the day decided to stay for two and I couldn’t do that.

Have a great time!

Jim!

Several on the Lightning group have asked about the Virginia Festival of Flight (Regional fly-in) this past weekend at Suffolk Airport. My impression is that overall it was a great event. Weather was good both days, and the turn out on Saturday was outstanding both in terms of airplanes and drive ins. Sunday was good weather, but the total aircraft that flew in that day were much less than Saturday. We had both the Tennessee factory and the Green Landings teams attending. Nick in the new ASTM certified LS-1, Pete in a brand new Jabiru 230, and Ryan and his dad in Jim Langley's EAB Lightning arrived late Friday evening due to en-route weather. "Professor" Doug K-berg drove the crew car down and helped man the booth. Quite a few people stopped by their display area to get a look at these three beautiful aircraft. Most that stopped in were familiar with the Lightning, but were actually seeing one for the first time. All were impressed with the overall looks and workmanship of the airplanes.

Other Lightning owners, Linda and Joe Mathias, Gary Winkler, and Charlie Keith were there as well. Gary flew his new jet up from NC and it was on display just across a temporary taxiway from the factory display area. Linda and Joe drove in both days as they are just completing an annual on their Lighting and both of them were very busy volunteers for the fly-in. Linda worked many hours in the youth tent and Joe and I kept busy judging aircraft. Charlie's Lightning is still at Green Landings, but he will be bringing it home to Virginia soon. I have quite a few Lightning photos that I made at the event and I will put some of those in the July issue of the Lightning newsletter.

Next Saturday (6 June) is an open house at Green Landings (WV22 is the identifier, but it is not in my GPS data base), so fly or drive over to West Virginia and see what goes on there. Then later in June (17 to 20) is Sentimental Journey at Lock Haven, PA. This is the annual Piper Cubs returning to the old factory and is one of the best "grass roots" fly-ins that I have been to. I will be leading a flight of Cubs up there (Joe and LInda and another friend from Williamsburg) and Doug K-berg may join us.  If you have the time, fly to KLHV for that event. It doesn't matter what you fly there, you are part of the fly-in and are welcome for all the events. Other than that, now is the time to start planning for Oshkosh. We hope that several builders will have their Lightnings on display and that we will have a good turn out for the Lightning forum and get together. Be there, aloha!

Blue Skies,
Buz
Below, Nick talks to Linda and Joe in front of the LS-1. Jim Langley's jet is in the background.

An Excellent Credit Score is 750. See Yours in Just 2 Easy Steps!

Thank you for recognizing my tenure even it there is that ongoing dispute with the Absorbine Junior College.

AJC is an old and somewhat aeromatic institution with a strong pharmiceutical background....including an appreciation for external Methanol/Ethanol consumption by both students and faculty alike.

Quite helpful these days. It is too bad they cannot overlook a few elderly indescretions.

Here's a couple of pics that I snagged off www.virginiaflyin.org.

I guess Pete was there, and the other pictures shows the Professor and Ryan at their booth.
