Not birdstrike but rather canopy failure from internal impact. The sequence of the accident cannot be determined.

I bet he hit his head on the interior of the canopy. Probably didn’t have the seat belt on.

Well I know I smacked my head on the canopy pretty good during a particularly nasty hit of turbulence earlier this year. My seat belt shoulder harness was on and secure at the beginning of the flight, but had loosened up as I sank into the memory foam seat. I now re-check my shoulder harness periodically during flight and re-adjust.

Since they chose to include the comment "Prior to taking off, the pilot declared that he was intending to perform some ‘mild aerial manoeuvres’ " I'm wondering if they are hinting at the possibility that he might have been intentionally inverted and an unsecured item fell down and hit the canopy?

There is an error in this report the canopy thickness was 0.080" NOT the NEW 0.125" TODDS Cheers
