Those who remember the original Europa promotional video of the early 90s will remember Ivan Shaw and lady friend packing two folding bikes into the back, landing out somewhere, followed by seemingly interminable footage of them cycling through the English countryside to some leafy pub in the sunshine for a quick pint.... Perhaps Europa still have the video, and can advise on type of bike.

I remember the photos of that in the original marketing brochure.
I had also heard that it was not possible to get two folded Bromptons in to the back of the 'original rear bulkhead' Europa. The extended rear luggage mod may be different in that respect.
Anyone know otherwise?

Hi all,

I can confirm that I can get a pair of Dahon folding bicycles in my Europa XS, but not much else, so it would be unlikely that you could get two of them in a Europa Classic.

Hi

I have a pair of A-bikes (A-bike.co.uk).

They are brilliant (Sir Clive Sinclairīs invention) but the wheels are absolutely too small, max for 5 km trip and that must be good asphalt. Itīs ultralight (12,5 lbs = 5,7 kg) and ultracompact (26" x 12" x 6" = 66 x 30 x 15 cm) when folded. They claim itīs worldīs smallest and lightest. Very atractive look. Price in England 199Ģ.

Odd really that the wheels are that small when it would appear they need not be. Would have thought that some adjustment of the folding geometry would allow one of two larger wheels to nestle above the other, retaining the folded compactness.

It's all one set of particular compromises!
