I'd like to address a persistent oil leak in a rear accessory case of my 912UL. It's a slow drip that I could live with if it weren't that it drips on the lower motor mounts. The oil and the heat conspire to ruin the mounts. Only problem is that I have to unmount the engine to get to the problem area. I didn't build this airplane and I've never done any work this involved. Any advice on this? Anything in particular I should look out for?

Luis,

If you can assess what you need to with the motor mount in place I would
sugggest leaving the motor mount on the engine and removing the engine/mount
from the firewall. It's been a while, but I remember that getting the mount
on the engine was a bit tricky.

When I took my engine off to make the repair to the stator, I bolted a 2'
x2' piece of 3/4" plywood to the propeller hub, used an engine hoist to
removed the engine, then tipped the nose down and lowered the plywood onto a
knee high stand I made from 2x4s and clamped the plywood in place. This made
an excellent engine stand and was very stable.

To re-mount the engine, just reverse the process. I did it by myself and did
not feel uncomfortableat any point.

Good luck

So I gather you removed the propeller? I was wondering if that would be necessary. I have access to an engine hoist. I'm hoping that will be enough.

Thanks for the tip in the engine mount. I'll give that a shot.
