Morning Gang:

Truck is loaded with all my gear, and ready to head to Gantt IAP, soon as I
finish my last cup of coffee.

It's 0730. Should be off the ground by 0830. I am already an hour behind
because of the time change from CDST to EDST. Doesn't matter though. I can
fly til I get tired, or until dark. My biggest problem will be
thunderstorms from here to there, typical summer weather pattern. Usually,
if I do get put down, it will be a short wait until the thunderstorm passes
over and I can continue to PA. Have no idea how far I will get today. It
is 808 sm to the Kolb airstrip, and about 10 to 11 hours flight time,
depending on the wind.

Did not have time to get my mkIII washed and cleaned up, so I will be
transporting Alabama bird crap, cow manure, bug droppings, and barn dust to
PA with me. I did get the oil and fil changed, and the air cleaners cleaned
(with mogas) Wink and oiled. 60 hours on the spark plugs. They should have
plenty time left on them to make this flight, which will be about 20 hours
cross country and an hour or so to fly locally out of Homer's.

I haven't landed my airplane there since I landed in 1994, on my first
flight around the country and up to Alaska. Hard to believe 15 years has
flown by. This is not an easy flight under normal circumstances. If the
mountains are not too hazy, I should be able to enjoy them from north
Georgia all the way to WV.

Looking forward to seeing friends and family at Homer's,

john h
