Can anyone send me the gross weight of the Twinstar with the 503 and nose fairing? I need to price floats, and it would sure help to know how much weight they need to displace!

I'm leaning toward a Full Lotus mono system because I like its simplicity, being aerodynamically cleaner and the possibility of amphib without getting really weird with extendable nose gear dangling between spreader bars and all. Any opinions welcome!

Michael

Sounds like you have a twinstar mark 1. The original designed gross weight of the mark 1 and 11 was 750 lbs. The mark 1 and 11 have 5 inch tail booms and wing spars, and the mark 111 has 6 inch.
cheers, Rob hks twinstar mark 1

I think I have a Mark II, not sure though. Is there a page that details the differences between the model names and numbers? That would sure be helpful, along with the performance specs, weights, etc. Is the Twinstar Mark I a two-seater? I think I remember the seller telling me mine was a Mark II, but I'm not sure. It's two-seat side-by-side with the 503.

There is an easy way to tell the dif between the mark I and II. The I has a large (about 1 3/4")central tube that supports the rudder pedals and stick. The whole forward ( everything in front of the landing gear) structure of the I is bolted on with three bolts.
The two was changed to provide a full enclosure, and I believe most of the two's are enclosed, and most of the one's have some sort of smaller fairing. I have seen several different fairings on the I, including a big, ugly bulbous one with what looked like a car windshield.
hope that helps, Rob
