Many may be headed to Osh, but heres the guestion. What is considered out of range oil temp? I was playing around fast and low with hard pulls and noticed oil temp near 230. I leveled off went full rich and slowed to about 2200. it gradually came back to just under 200 which is what it normally runs. Charlie H

Charlie, you didn't say which engine you have or what the OAT was, but with my IO-360 180hp engined 8A, I may see 220 deg if I'm running the engine hard on a hot summer day (90 deg). My engine manual says the max oil temp is 245 degrees. I doubt you would damage your engine by just going up to 230 for a short time.
