A Kitfox's eye view of the first cutting of Timothy hay. It makes some interesting patterns in shades of green. do not archive

Nice shots Tom,
What camera are you using? Shooting through an open door?

Vic, the camera is a little Canon PowerShot A710, 7.1 mega pixels. I shoot through the door. I clean it with pledge first.
When I take pictures I have both hands on the camera. I keep the plane steady with the rudder pedals and want to hear the engine to detect any RPM changes. With the door open hands off flying is not as easy for me and I can't hear the engine very well. So, I am chicken to take pictures with the door open. I should have a passenger try that I guess.

I went out flying early this morning. I had the airport all to my self so did a few touch and goes then cruised around the valley.
Here's some photos to show what the valley looks like now, one month later.
The dark green fields and those with a little brown and green mix are timothy hay. The brown ones are wheat. It is irrigated and doesn't dry enough to combine so they cut it, let it dry a week or so then they combine it. The light green patches in the corn circle are where it has tasseled out and the dark green hasn't tasseled yet. That's my neighborhood on the right across the road to from the corn field.

Thanks Tom,
Your area looks a lot like where we are. Though most agriculture is in the
central valley, the foot hills of the Sierras are very similar. As some
have posted in the past, it does give one a sense of urgency to finishing
the old project. We crossed Nevada by car last week and saw from the ground
what had been so common from the air. That helped with the urgency as well.

Tom,
Nice pics. Some of my old stompin' grounds are just south of you over Umtanum pass in the Yakima area. I was up flying early this morning over the Great Salt Lk in Utah. Here's a link to a short youtube vid of an early morning flight about 10 days ago.
