About how far up from the bottom? I was thinking I would put the headset plugs on the far right and left sides.

John, I reserved the left 1/5th of the panel on each side for this. I put the choke on the left, nearest the door and the throttle above that. I put the elevator trim just above the throttle so I could operate the trim without removing my hand from the throttle.
On the other side, I put the cabin heat, Hobbs, and other throttle.
I can send pics if you want.
