I think you'll regret building this contraption for a control stick----- recommend flying with the "Y" stick, than if you don't like, change it afterwards. The contraption mentioned below will take up lot of room in the cockpit.
The "Y" stick is great------ it is pretty much "out of the way". If you want something to resemble "dual sticks" than do it right and build the "2 stick option".

When I built it I wasn't too impressed with the Y stick, but now I love it! Last project (Kitfox) I had two sticks and had to crawl around them while entering and exiting. I eventually took off the pasenger side one so passengers could get in and out easier. The Y stick gives you much more practical usable room and in my opinion, really works well! Try it and you'll see.

I agree! I had my doubts about the Y stick, mostly aesthetics and being located in the center. With over 100 hrs I like it a lot--wouldn't do it any other way.

Well now, it's all about opinion. Personally I didn't like the center
stick for a couple of reasons, and I have flown with it. I couldn't
mount my GPS in the center where I wanted it because it hung down. The
passenger always had to hold his left leg in because the stick your hit
in in a right bank.
My dual sticks work great. It's all about how the stick is bent to
allow easy entry and exit from either side. My passenger stick removes
with two pins if you don't the passenger to have a stick either for
flying or in his/her way.
My sticks are arranged so that you fly in a natural position with your
wrist resting on your leg whereas the "Y" it high and you have to always
be holding your arm up.
I recently added a new picture on my site. www.skyhawg.com, look for
Dual Control Sticks. Larry N1345L

My last plane was a Kolb MK III with a center stick and I later added the duel stick kit. I actually liked flying the center stick more and the duel stick made it very hard to get into and out of the plane. I know I will like the center stick on the 701, my two cents worth.

One thing you way want to consider about this sort of dual stick -
You are adding a large amount of mass to the top of the stick. What may happen is that the weight of the cross bar will cause the stick to list to one side during flight if you remove your hand from it.
You may also find that the extra weight will make left turns seem harder than right turns for the pilot, and vice-versa for the passenger.

Larry--- "Y" stick or dual stick--- the discussion will go on
forever-------- it is important to point out that the "contraption dual
stick" as discribed is NOTHING like Chris' or your dual stick
installation.----- By the way, your stick looks nice. I think you'll find
most that have flown with the "Y" stick, love it.
