[quote] I was just looking at installing finger brakes, but it occured to me on the Trigear
it could be hard to control on the ground in that configuration, one hand on throttle,
one on brakes to stear, and stick??? Thoughts please

Craig,
Now that I'm use to flying / Taxing my tri-gear I have trouble even
thinking of foot brakes. You will get use to anything in a while and
this is no exception. I can run my brakes and run the throttle all with
the right hand. I can't imagine doing it any other way and I grew up
like most in a 152 then Cherokee.
Put in the brakes. It's a non issue.

Craig Hi!
As per Jeff's comments. It becomes second nature to use finger brakes.
Ensure levers are long enough and keep speed to a good walking pace to taxi. Use Rudder too. They become quite accurate to use and control and I found them easy to use doing a short field landing. Juggling with throttle also seems to work out after a few goes.
Regards
Gerry

Hi Gerry,
Your advise is straight from the book, so to speak, but it is inconsistent
If you taxi at walking speed, your rudder will have no detectable effect
on directional control. My rudder begins to be useful only over speeds
of 12kts. I can't even run that fast
Be save!

Ira Hi!
You are right. On reflection the required taxi speed is a little faster than walking pace. I erred on the side of a slower description speed in case it was envisioned that you were needing to use lots of power and racing around. The action becomes second nature very quickly.
As for YOUR running speed.... I'm glad it's slow. That means you are not chasing your dinner or being chased as an intended dinner! No other reason to run anywhere!!
Regards
Gerry
