Bob,
I was looking at your Z-10/8 diagram (that's the one with brown out protection) in http://aeroelectric.com/R12A/AppZ_12A3.pdf and noticed the main battery and the brown out battery are connected in parallel except for the starting cycle. Is it OK to have two, different, batteries connected in parallel for 24/7? Not even the master solenoid disconnects them.

Sure. Most if not all the prohibitions for
paralleling batteries are popular myths. See:
