Folks,
I'm getting ready to put my Lasar computer on the firewall (where I've seen them before in pictures). for those of you that have this ignition system, are you putting some backing plates to spread the load out - or just nutplating it in?
Thanks,
Ralph

Ralph, I mounted my Lasar computer unit high on the engine side of my firewall on the passenger side of airplane and did not use any backing plate. I used nutplates to facilitate later removal if necessary. No problems with that mounting.
As a heads up, I found my CHTs run hot on takeoff and Lycoming claims that is an issue with their Lasar system. I pull the power a bit just after lift-off and that helps. Lasar, however gives me great fuel economy - 6.2 gph at 65% power.
