This is what I referenced.
Basically, measure the length of the rod. Drill a hole in the door and install. The reinforcement plate basically sits on the bottom ridge/flush with the front door so that it can not be twisted (forced out as the pressure is applied to the lock from the hinge- another way to explain this is with the door laying flat the plate sits on the outside door and low enough to touch the bottom ridge of the door). I pop riveted the plate to the door, drilled the hole for the lock centered on the plate.
