Halon itself won't kill you (baring wrapping your lips around the nozzle) and the type we use is generally very low in toxicity, what it will do is displace the O2 in the cabin to a point where it can be dangerously low.

It will kill you if you breath it as it displaces oxygen in the lungs
and you cannot get it out of the lungs, even with CPR.
You suffocate to death.
