Good turnout for Kitfoxer's at MERFI....about 4-6 Kitfoxes attended,
including Steve Shinaberys' on a trailer. Steve told me via email
that it was for sale....I missed seeing him. Mark W. was there (sorry
I forgot your last name, Mark) with his gorgeous Model 5, I was there
with my less-than-gorgeous Model IV, and there were a couple that I
only saw taking off. Someone standing by me said that it belonged to
an airline pilot....it looked like it was red at thefron of the
fuselage, fogging back to yellow in the middle, and fogging back to
red again at the tail. Looked like a Mod IV or 5, but not sure.
The weather was beautiful after the fog and dew lifted in the early
morning. I gotta say, tent camping is a bit different in September
than it is in July. I had forgotten my rain fly for thetent, and I
woke up to a nice layer of dew inside the tent. There were about 200
planes that showed up over the day, I would guess. The B-17 Yankee
Lady was selling rides, as well as a T-6 or two. I never knew that
Urbana is the home of Grimes Products, the folks that make (or made)
most of the lighting that have been used on aircraft for
years....quite a history to the place. The name Grimes has been sold
a couple or eight times, but they were pioneers in the field.
