I am getting some vague information from the FAA about my Kitfox
registration. My application is hung up somewhere because I didn't have the
bill of sale from Denney Aerocraft to the original owner in 1990. I have
told the FAA guy I want the plane to be "Experimental Light Sport" but the
application contained the line "not for light sport aircraft". The plane
meets all LSA criteria, so will it be licensed as LSA? Who here is "in the
know".

Ed,
Need more info. If this is the first registration and you are the
builder it will be registered E-AB. You can no longer register E-LSA.
Sounds like you purchased the kit from an individual that purchased it from
Denney Aerocraft. If that is the case then visit the our web and click the
Bill of Sale link http://www.kitfoxaircraft.com/FAQ-Tech.htm There are
instructions and a letter for registering your aircraft.
If the configuration of the aircraft meets the definition of Light Sport
Aircraft than it can be operated by a Sport Pilot.
