Obama's plane to hamper some Wheels & Wings air traffic
Pilots need to check special FAA restrictions prior to travel
Pilots attending Saturday's Wheels & Wings event at Osceola's L.O. Simenstad Municipal Airport may encounter some small inconveniences due to the presence of President Barack Obama.
The Federal Aviation Administration has announced a set of temporary flight restrictions for Sept. 12, from 11:50 a.m. through 3:05 p.m., for all air traffic within a radius of 30 nautical miles of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The flight restrictions include a complete "no-fly" restriction for within 11 nautical miles of Minneapolis.
According to the FAA, pilots within the 30-nautical-mile radius are limited to arrival and departure at local airfields and must be on an active flight plan as assigned by an air traffic control facility.
"It's very, very, very important for pilots to check with their flight service stations before going out if they're in that area," said FAA spokesperson Elizabeth Isham Cory.
While the Osceola airport lies about two miles outside the restricted area, pilots traveling toward Osceola from the west and south will have to be aware of the restrictions, said Wally Piszczek, a retired Northwest Airlines pilot and Osceola resident.
"Please be safe," Isham Cory reiterated. "Talk to local flight services first, regardless of purpose."
Obama is tentatively scheduled to speak at a rally to build support for his health care initiative. at the Target Center at 12:30 p.m.

Turned out great, just short on airplanes. Oh well had fun and a B25 and two T6's stopped by for a few hours! Not so bad! Mike ( local A&P) had a little work on one of the T6's. Chip sensor picked up something... Hope it does not pick up more!
Stop by next year we will be here!
I did forget the camera though!!!!
