I purchased this 912 ul over a year ago. Things have been running smoothly ( oil changes and carb balancing as required). 380hrs tt . lately i'm getting overheat warning lights on exhaust pipe "2" when i start to throttle back for landings to 4700 to 3500rpm. at normal cruse and full throttle everything is green. I only have 2 temp sensors one on cylinder 3 and on 4. question 1 which one would normally be temp sensor 2.. prolly the builders decision. next question would one carb clamp being loose and needing 2 full turns to tighten cause lean burn at some throttle settings. question 3 would the primer/ choke valves not being totally closed cause this.( cable stop was loose ,moving, binding.) now fixed so i have full range from fully closed to full open. question 4 does the throttle arm want to stay in one position. while the engine is running normally or will it tend to close to idle or advance gradually to full throttle. ignoring the full throttle safety spring. the spring on one side pulls strongly to the full open stop but the other side is weak and will leave the right side about .5 mm short of the full throttle stop. a very light flick of the throttle cable and it pops to full. (engine off) cant see any binding a problems with this cable and assuming that engine running would vibrate enough to move to full as it should. Will be changing both spring asap anyway. could some worn parts inside carb be the cause of this catch. I have 100 hrs on the plugs and am changing them tomorrow. was just wondrin if I'm on the right trac or if anyone had other thoughts.
edit update: 1,2,3, plugs clean and tan. #4 black and dirty. all gaps were 35thou and more. comp test showed all very close 83/78, set new plugs to .025. starts with 1/3 of a prop rotation now
edit: engine runs smooth.. but not to full rpm only 5000climb out was 5280. will slowly get to 5280 with coaxing at level flight, used to get to 5400 easily. am suspecting some dirt in carbs.
