I changed to the friction vernier throttle cable. Just cut it to fit. It does a good job.

Dave, Why do you want to go from vernier to friction throttle?

Has anyone changed the vernier style throttle in a Kitfox 2 to a friction style? And what one did you use ? ACS has ones listed but they start at 3 feet , can you just get a solid wire one and cut it shorter ?

Funny thing that... I kinda liked the Vernier throttle once I got used to
pushing the button to disengage the screw.

I put the push pull throttle with the friction lock on my 912ULS.
I also didn't like the strong spring pulling the throttle open so I replaced
the springs with lighter ones.
Still have to use the friction lock but it is much easier.

THanks for the input on the throttle. I TH ink I will settle on this for owner
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/a820.php
A-820 CONTROL 36" BLACK KNOB 05-09436 $50.50
They have 11 in stock locally here in Canada and I can cut to length.
Thanks again for inputs.
I have the vernier on mine and prefer it over the friction lock.

I too went with the Vernier throttle because the friction adjustment would not hold the throttle position very well on the old one. I always had to tighten it. The Vernier was much better but on a few occasions I accidentally hit the center knob with the palm of my hand and ended up going around on a short strip as the engine went to full power because of the carb springs (Vernier disengagement)
I now have a counter balancing spring going from the throttle bell crank to a spot next to the Vernier attachment point at the throttle quadrant. It is a long automobile throttle return spring about 10 inches long. I now have a perfectly balanced system. I can push the Vernier button in and the throttle will advance very slowly or not at all. It's GREAT! just like a "normal" throttle system. Thanks to Lowell Fitt for this idea.
This particular solution will not work if you don't have the older bellcrank system but perhaps you could come up with something similar.
